Event Details

An Introduction to Chinese Language and Culture will be taught by Ms. Zhao Fang, from Taiyuan, China, who is a Mandarin Chinese language instructor and tutor in the area. Topics include basic Mandarin Chinese vocabulary and phrases, ranging from greetings; vocabulary for eating, shopping, traveling & making phone calls, to information about traditional Chinese customs and celebrations. 

Classes are designed for individuals aged 18+  who are planning to travel or do business in China, as well as those who just want to learn Mandarin Chinese and more about China and its culture. Space for this series is limited to 20 individuals and advance registration is required.  

Classes will be held at the downtown branch of the Library, 133 Elm Street, on Thursday evenings each week from 6-7:30 pm Mar. 8-May 24, 2012 (12 weeks). A $20 series fee will be collected at the first class. For more information, contact the library at 203-946-8835.

The Main (Ives) branch of the New Haven Free Public Library system is located at 133 Elm St., across from the New Haven Green, corner of Elm and Temple. Yale Lot #51 on Temple Street (across the street from the library) opens to the public at 4pm, and there are 2-hour parking meters on streets surrounding the library.
